SPAN, Students of Public Affairs Network, is a student based organization providing students in public administration and public policy professional development, job networking opportunities and a support network for the PhD, MPA, and MPP programs. SPAN holds events throughout the academic year such as community service, public forums, social events and professional development events.

SPAN strives to provide students interested in public service and governance an opportunity to interact with a diverse group of leaders in the fields of public administration, public policy and non-profit management.

about

SPAN was created in 1993 as a graduate student organization for Public Affairs students. The ASUSPAN listserv was later implemented in 1995 to communicate events and information to SPA students, and has been the primary way SPAN has advertised events to the student body. In previous years SPAN has organized multiple social happy hours, the SPAN Holiday Party, and the SPAN Professional Development Conference.

SPAN's primary purpose is to create camaraderie between the MPA and PhD program and address interests and concerns of SPA students while increasing the interaction of students with the Valley community. SPAN continues to seek new opportunities to promote the organization as well as provide unique experience for SPA students.
